The North American Tiddlywinks Association T i d d l y w i n k s ! |
It was in 1969 that Bill Renke started his winks career as a Freshman at MIT. "Cannonball" quickly became the President of the MIT Tiddlywinks Association and also the SecGen of NATwA. Renke spearheaded the victorious MIT tour of England in 1972, working with Tim Schiller to get the MIT FinBoard to pay airfares and so forth. Thereafter, Renke was the guiding force behind the Zoo team (corresponding to a living group in MIT's MacGregor House, on the 11th floor or thereabouts), and the subsequent Relix team (named after the magazine for Grateful Dead fans). Known in the early 1970s for singing Dead songs under his breath while dominating the early NATwA and World Singles matches, Renke was a mentor for many American winkers.
